Mountain Ascents and Traverses
Lanin Volcano 3776 mts.

Lanín volcano is a most interesting mountain, not only for those who are taking their first steps into mountaineering but also for those who just want to carry out a recreational adventure activity.
Surrounded by spectacular landscapes and giant araucarias, we find the national park of the same name, in the province of Neuquén, northern Patagonia. As it is the highest mountain in the area (3776 meters), a wonderful view of the mountain range and some Chilean volcanoes can be enjoyed, not only from its summit, but also during the ascent.

Day 0:
Reception of the group in San Martín de los Andes. Equipment checking and Introductory brief with the guide about the details of the program

Day 1:
Transfer from San Martín de los Andes to Tromen. Ascent from Tromen to mountain refuges´ area (2400 m.)

Day 2:
Mountain refuges´ area – summit attempt – Full descent to volcano´s base and return to San Martín de los Andes

GENERAL EQUIPMENT

• 65 to 70 litres backpack
• Sleeping bag for -10 C confort (synthetic or duvet filling)
• Therma-Rest insulating mat
• Gaiters
• Trekking or medium mountian boots with gore tex ideally
• Trekking poles
• Sun-glasses
• headlamp with new batteries
• 1-litre bottle (nalgene ideally)
• Sunblock (35 or more)
• Lips sunblock
• Minimum personal hygiene items

CLOTHES

• Goretex waterproof jacket with hood (3rd layer)
• softshell jacket with hood (2nd layer)
• Waterproof over pants
• Softeshell trekking trousers
• Underwear synthetic fabric t-shirt and stockings (2)
• Spare underwear
• Three pairs of trekking socks
• windsttoper gloves
• Liner gloves
• Waterproof over gloves
• Warm hut and cap
• Neckerchief or Buff for neck protection (optional)
• Light feather or synthetic warm vest or jacket for the night

RECOMMENDED OPTIONALS

• Feather or synthetic warm vest
• Pocket book

NOTES AND EXPLANATIONS

It is vital for each participant to check all his/her equipment properly before traveling. Said equipment must be in good conditions, it must be comfortable and of course, it must be apt for the purpose. If at half the traverse, any element of the equipment fails, we will not be able to go on normally or of course replace it.
As for clothes, we always recommend synthetic ones, especially for the inner ones and the torso ones: if you wear sweated cotton t-shirt, you will suffer cold very much until our body helps it dry.
