INTRODUCTION

Although El Chaltén is primarily known for being the Argentinean capital of trekking in southern Patagonia, it is also a mecca for rock climbers.
Complement your hiking activities and join us for a completely different experience as we introduce you to rock climbing and show you the best spots around El Chaltén to practice this wonderful sport

ITINERARY

You don’t have to go far from El Chaltén to find a wide variety of rock faces that are suitable for all levels of rock climbing experience.  If it is your first climb, we will teach you the basic maneuvers on rocks that are suitable for beginners. If you are already experienced, we will take you to high-quality rock that will challenge your skills. 

The excursion can be done as a half or a full day of climbing and includes instruction on basic safety procedures, equipment use, and rock progression technique.

Half-day excursion: 3-4 hours

Full-day excursion: 5-6 hours

What you need to bring

Backpack 20-30 liters
Sunglasses
Water container (ideally Nalgene)
Sunscreen (factor 35 or higher) and lip balm
Personal hygiene items

Recommended clothing

Comfortable trekking shoes, ideally waterproof
Rain jacket
Softshell or windstopper jacket with hood
Lightweight waterproof pant cover
Trekking pants
Spare underwear (optional)
Fleece or windstopper gloves
Impervious gloves (optional)
Warm hat and sun cap
Fleece Neckerchief or Scarf or Buff (optional)
Down jacket or light coat
